2026

Early in October of 2025, our Momma Justice was found running the streets with a younger dog who we now know as Shelby.
Justice and Shelby were very scared, and Justice was also very pregnant. Lake County Animal Services took both dogs in and then contacted our Founder, Teena Patel, with a request that Teena take Justice into the Puppy B.R.E.A.T.H. program at the Doglando Foundation. Teena said YES and we picked up both dogs from the shelter. As we settled them into the den at Doglando, we set up a whelping box for Justice and focused on helping both girls to become comfortable with our experienced volunteers, who worked to help them to understand that there is kindness in the world, making every effort to build trust with both of them.
As it turned out, we had a little less than two weeks before the puppies were born on October 23, 2025. We then gave Momma Justice the opportunity to begin raising her pups in a warm, safe, and secure environment. Momma nursed her pups through 8 weeks of age, and Momma, along with Shelby worked together to support the pups and to train them as they grew and eventually were moving around on their own.
As of January 2026, the pups are nearing 3.5 months of age, and have been spending their weekdays at enrichment sessions at Doglando. This includes using teaching dogs and experienced human trainers to support healthy and productive learning for the pups, supplemental to what they already receive in the way of learning from their Momma and Shelby. Weekends are spent with Puppy B.R.E.A.T.H. volunteers who cover most hours of the day, beginning at 7:30AM and ending at 9:00PM. The volunteers work on helping the dogs, including Momma and Shelby, to learn skills such as name recall, hide & seek, swimming; the dogs also receive massages, are fed yogurt while being cradled, and run around the den yard, playing with tools and with one another.
These puppies are well-adjusted to humans and other dogs. We estimate that they’ll be on the smaller side as Momma is just shy of 20 lbs. Each dog has their own profile, which you may access by clicking on their name below.
A brief note regarding the interesting names that these pups carry: the Umansky Law Firm, a friend of the Doglando Foundation, sponsored this litter and thus had the opportunity to name each one of the pups and Momma!
